EXCLUSIVE: CHEROKEES DEMAND TRUTH FROM ELIZABETH WARREN

A group of more than 150 Cherokees—enrolled Cherokees and descendants from the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes; the Cherokee Nation, the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians—demanded today that Elizabeth Warren tell the truth about her "Cherokee" ancestry and identity.

The newly established group has not yet established a specific organizational structure, but it already has a website and Facebook page, each proclaiming loudly the group’s name, "Cherokees Demand Truth from Elizabeth Warren," with a pointed message to Ms. Warren included in the logo:
You claim to be Cherokee.
You forget, it isn’t who you claim, but instead, who claims you.
We don’t claim you!
Twila Barnes (left) and David Cornsilk (right) are spokespeople for the group.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Ms. Barnes had a direct message for Elizabeth Warren:
I would like to meet with Ms. Warren, in person, and explain why her false claim of Cherokee ancestry is an issue. She can ignore the questions of a reporter, but can she ignore the questions of a real Cherokee?
Though our ancestors suffered, they also overcame and thrived, but they paid a very high price for us to be able to claim our heritage. That heritage belongs to us, and no one else. For Ms. Warren to have claimed that heritage and used it for her own selfish purposes is disrespectful and disgusting.
The group’s mission statement says they are “devoted to sharing the truth about our history. Our mission is to help people understand what a real Cherokee is and to show why Elizabeth Warren claiming to be Cherokee without proof is harmful and offensive to us.”

The group’s website continues:
[T]he voice of the Cherokee people is being silenced by the roar of those trying to keep Scott Brown in office or to get Elizabeth Warren elected. The voice of the Cherokee people, crying out for truth and explaining why that truth is so important, is often being ignored.
This is NOT a political group, but instead, a group that demands Elizabeth Warren and others like her understand OUR history belongs to us and no one has the right to try to rewrite it or make up fictitious stories so they can fit in it or take advantage of it.
We hope to help educate the public on what is and is not true about our history and also why the false claims like Elizabeth Warren is making are harmful to the Cherokee people.
We don’t care if Elizabeth Warren is a Democrat, Republican, or an Independent. We do care, though, if she goes around claiming to be Cherokee and has tried to benefit from that claim.
Ms. Barnes concluded with this comment:
Ms. Warren created and used a fake Cherokee identity to get what she wanted without a care or concern for the real Cherokee people. She might think this is a non-issue, but she is wrong. I would like to meet her, face to face and explain why this is a very big issue.
