As it turns out, Pom Wonderful isn’t quite so wonderful after all.
A federal administrative judge ruled on Monday that the pomegranate juice maker used deceptive advertising when it suggested that the juice could treat or prevent diseases. The ruling, which upheld a 2010 Federal Trade Commission complaint, said that Pom didn’t have the evidence to back up its claims that antioxidants in pomegranate juice could “treat, prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease, prostate cancer or erectile dysfunction.”
